Magic Steps is one of the very few childcare centres which gives the opportunity for young children to be placed in different classes (playrooms) depending on the child's age. Babies, toddlers and preschoolers are not placed together in one room. We have different rooms for different ages with age-appropriate equipment, toys and resources aimed to reach that age group developmental milestones. What 2 to 3 year old can do cannot be done by the 1 to 2 year old group or babies. The different rooms one finds at Magic Steps make it possible for carers to focus on small groups of children who are grouped together according to age and abilities. Also apart from this Magic Steps has separate rooms which cater for unique type of activities such as the messy room, mini gym, multi-sensory area and reading corner. Children not only stay in different rooms depending on their age but also they move from one room to another depending on the type of activity they are doing. This allows children to understand better the activity they are going to be engaged in since the physical environment and set up of each room puts them more in that activity's context. All this can be witnessed from the daily photos we post of various activities that each age group does. Another thing to mark is that classes have different curricular since the interests of the 1 to 2 year group are different from the interests of the 2 to 3 year group.
When children are organized in groups, staff have many more opportunities for regular interaction with individual children. Positive interactions between staff and children have many benefits, such as opportunities for staff to observe children’s learning and growth and for the creation of positive adult-child relationship. A high-quality daycare environment can improve the cognitive, vocabulary and social development of your child by providing safe and mentally stimulating spaces to explore, play and learn the rules of social interaction at a pace that meets each child’s individual needs.
