A learning journal is an important document for parents/legal guardians to keep as it provides the necessary evidence about a child’s development and interests. Our Learning Journals at Magic Steps are the main form of assessment used by us carers to support planning for each and every child’s development and also help us to ensure that every child has his/her individual leaning needs met. We celebrate achievements through learning journals since when a child accomplishes a given task it is another positive move in his/her milestones. At Magic Steps learning journals are about documenting children’s learning in a visual way which is then recorded and reflected on. On a weekly basis we provide learning stories and photos to parents and nowadays this is done online. The learning journals are loved keepsakes which parents expect to receive from us and which we are very willing to do and share, since we believe that parents must be fully included in their children’s development.
